Scór na nÓg All Ireland Final

A strong contingent of black and amber supporters travelled the long distance to the All-Ireland finals in Killarney last weekend in The INEC Glen Eagle Hotel Killarney to support no less than three Na Dúnta acts. There was great excitement and anticipation in the air all weekend with all three acts performing superbly. The Downs were represented by Alanna Corroon with her rendition of “Mammys Day in Tramore”in the the Aithriseoireacht category, the Nuachleas category by Aidan Tuite, Aidan Quinlan, Grace O'Neill, Senan O'Neill, Orla O'Connell, Sophie Moore, Darragh Colgan & Sean Corroon and finally The Downs set dancers Aaron Connaire, Orla Rijksen, Leah Bardon, Billy Carroll, Bailey Shiels, Sean Flynn, Conor Cleary & Ellen Connaire. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive any silverware but the honour and pride these children have brought to the club is unrivalled. We thank them for their hard work and particular thanks to their mentors and of course the Scór Committee. We hope you all enjoy your well-earned break and we look forward to getting back on the road in 2024. Commiserations also to Moate who represented Westmeath in the Baléid Grúpa – no doubt they will be back next year!!

LGFA Results

The Senior Ladies Division 4 side were in action on Bank Holiday Monday in Round 3 of the league against St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge. After a keenly contested game, it was St. Marys to emerge victorious with a two-point win. Final score The Downs 3-06 St. Mary’s 4-05. Hard luck girls.

Our U14’s had a tough assignment on Thursday evening last against Athlone. Our girls fought hard but were overcome by a strong Athlone side.

Cumann na mBunscol

Congratulations to The Downs NS as both the boys and girl’s teams qualified for the eagerly anticipated Cumann na mBunscol Finals in Cusack Park later this month. We wish them all the very best of luck.

Well Done

Well done to our U10 girls who played superbly at half-time in Cusack Park at the Ladies Westmeath/Wicklow game on Sunday. Well done to all involved.
